What tips do leading Oakland Chef’s have for beginning urban farmers?

On Wednesday, March 11th, SAGE hosted a workshop bringing together several of chefs from some of Oakland’s finest eateries spoke about their commitment to supporting local growers. ¬†Approximately 20 farmers gathered and attentively listened as chefs provided tips on how to build long-term working relationships in the restaurant industry.

All chefs agreed that if a farmer followed the tips below, their hard work would not go unnoticed and fruitful relationships would follow:

  • Provide unique produce items
  • Take and value feedback
  • Provide consistent quality
  • Be a professional

So remember, build strong relationships with chefs and don’t be afraid to think outside of the box!
